The Landing & Parade

Saturday 29 Oct, 10am, off Beach Road on the shore of French Bay.

For a splash of drama, begin on the shore of French Bay where you’ll witness a theatrical re-telling of Akaroa’s colonial origins, with the 1840 arrival story as told by descendants of the Comte de Paris immigrant ship. You may even like to dress in 19th Century period costume. Then, fall in behind the world-famous New Zealand Army Band as they lead a spectacular parade down to the Akaroa Village Green for the official opening ceremony.
